About Paperwork
It started with an ID card.
My girlfriend asked me to sign a copy of my ID card. Somehow, I ended up building an entire web app.
She needed the copy to handle some paperwork for me. I already kept a PDF in Google Drive, so it should have been easy. In Thailand, we often write a note across an ID copy saying what it can be used for, then sign it. All I needed was a few words in Thai and a signature.
But the online PDF tools I tried either struggled with Thai characters or put what I needed behind limits and subscriptions. I switched between websites and my phone until I finally got it done. It took far longer than a single document should.
When I asked my girlfriend how she usually did it, she said it was easy. Then she tried, ran into the same limitations, and couldn’t finish it either. We had to laugh.
Why should an everyday task mean learning new software or paying for a monthly subscription?
So I built Paperwork: simple, free tools for everyday PDF jobs. Add text, including Thai, sign a document, merge or split files, and rearrange pages, right in your browser. No sign-up, and your documents stay on your device. I built it for myself first, and wanted other people to be able to use it too.
If a supposedly simple PDF task has ever taken up too much of your day, tell me about it. It might be the next thing I build.
